Run a full load of laundry whenever possible
Adjust the water setting to an appropiate level before starting the clothes washer. If you're washing a small load of laundry, be sure that your machine is set to use less water.
Wash clothes in cold water. Unless the clothes have oily stains, cold water will generally perform as well as hot water
