CONSERVATION AS A WAY OF LIFE: In the past, we southern Californians managed periodic water shortages by temporarily cutting back on our water consumption. But we are now in a new era. Due to PERMANENT reductions in imported water supplies, periodic droughts and our growing economy and population, the number and severity of shortages will increase in the future UNLESS all of us treat water as the precious commodity that it is.

CONSERVATION BRINGS MANY BENEFITS: The good news is water conservation provides multiple benefits: reducing water bills, yard maintenance and the urban runoff polluting our Long Beach coastal waters, creating more functional, livable and sustainable landscapes, protecting up-stream rivers and wildlife habitats and, of course, helping to sustain the reliable water supply essential to our families and economy.

WASTING WATER: Because there is no longer enough water to waste, certain wasteful uses of water are prohibited.
