LONG BEACH REBATE PROGRAM HAS NOW TRANSITIONED TO THE SOCAL WATER SMART REBATE PROGRAM!!

As of July 1, 2008, the Long Beach Water Department (LBWD) has joined together with several other Southern California Water Agencies and Metropolitan Water District (MWD) in the SoCal Water Smart rebate program. Rebate amounts listed on the application may differ from those listed below, however if you are a resident of Long Beach and a LBWD customer, you are eligible for the amounts listed here. Rebates are offered under two categories, indoor and outdoor. The rebates offered are listed below.

Indoor
$195 rebate: The High-Efficiency Toilet (HET) flushes 1.28 gpf or less.  The average water savings for HETs is estimated to be over 10,000 gallons per year, depending on the number of people in your home, when replacing a non-efficient toilet. This rebate is only good when replacing high-volume-per-flush toilets with qualifying HET, which are selected by the Environmental Protection Agency WaterSense program.

$140 rebate: The High-Efficiency Clothes Washer (HECW) uses less water and less energy than traditional clothes washers. By installing a new HECW you can reduce your energy costs of laundering clothes by about 50% and lower your water and sewer costs by 35-50%. HECWs also require 50% less laundry detergent. Only certain washing machines qualify for this rebate, chosen from the Energy Star Efficient appliances list, must have a water factor of 5.0 or less.

Outdoor

$4.50 per nozzle rebate: The Rotating Irrigation Nozzlesuses much less water than traditional lawn sprinkler heads.   Only certain nozzles qualify for this rebate.

* $80 rebate: Weather-based Irrigation Controllers (WBIC) Most people can save a lot of water by watering less; about 50% of the average home's water is used outdoors. One way to reduce water used for landscape irrigation is to install a "smart" controller -- an irrigation timer that adjusts itself automatically as the weather changes. It automatically waters less in the winter and more in the summer. The approved list of WBICs are those that have been SWAT (Smart Water Application Technologies) industry tested.

*For less than one acre and up to 12 stations. If you have more than 12 stations, the rebate is $6.50 per station. If you have more than one acre of landscape, the rebate amount changes to $630 per acre.

$0.30 per square foot rebate: Synthetic Turf, also known as artificial grass, is commonly used on athletic fields but can be used in the residential setting. There are several synthetic turf manufacturers that are approved for rebates.

Rebate amounts are subject to change without notice.
